ACT TWO

Scene One

Entirely black stage. A screen upon the back wall. BOY sits on a trunk centre stage that is covered with movie stickers and pop-culture references. Another three trunks are placed nearby. A small rainbow neon lamp is on a table stage left. The lamp is not illuminated. BOY wears the padlock necklace around his neck with a rainbow light upon it. It is also not illuminated.

BOY. Who got the worse ending, Peter Pan or Wendy? We’ll never really know but that’s something I’ve thought about a lot. Peter got what he’d always wanted – he never had to grow up, but with Hook dead and Wendy gone, I wonder if his world lost a little piece of its shine. Then there’s Wendy, she got what she’d never wanted. She returned home, grew up, got married and had children. She chose the mundane over the magical. I could never work out who I felt more sorry for.
